GenZD is a versatile platform supporting the utilization of the open-source idTech 1 game engine on iOS. This tool enables users to execute both its "WAD" game files and community-developed "MOD" files in a manner that leverages modern technology for rendering. In addition to replicating the original engine's functionalities, GenZD offers advanced features including cutting-edge 3D rendering, widescreen graphics, dynamic lighting, and a fully customizable scripting environment.

It is important to highlight that GenZD does not come pre-loaded with content; hence, users must provide their own files. To do so, simply utilize the Files app to transfer or duplicate files into the designated GenZD folder located under "On my iPhone".

The platform allows for the creation of "Launch Configurations" by utilizing a primary game file alongside supplementary MOD files in .pk3 and .zip formats. Users can easily access a wealth of community-generated content available online, with almost all mods structured in UDMF or WAD formats being compatible with GenZD.

Additional functionalities offered by GenZD encompass game controller compatibility with popular devices such as PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mFi controllers. Moreover, users can benefit from on-screen touch virtual gamepad and virtual keyboard options as well as customizable touch controls. The inclusion of gyroscope aiming capability enhances the gaming experience, while widescreen Metal graphics rendering through MoltenVK contributes to superior visual quality. Lastly, users have the flexibility to add their own game and mod files via the Files app to further personalize their gaming encounters.
